help losing chicks and now some juvinille bantams

have two female golden seabrights about 3 months old that are very sick. the one is just laying there almost sleeping, the other is gasping off and on. had two gamecock babys about six weeks old and one mile fleur 3 weeks old and also a moltled cochin about 3 or 4 weeks old die. dont know why. clean coop every week fresh water and feed daily. have baby quail doing fine and 7 other seabrights doing fine, plus silkies and mile fleurs doing just fine. i also have 2 pigeons doing great. the babys gave no sighn when they died except the cochin. the rest were just dead the next day. they didnt all die the same day, the first one died about a week and a half ago. please help if possible.

What do the birds look like when dead? Any posturing? I had this trouble last year only with my Mille Fleurs and then it was gone as fast as it started. I did necropsys and found nothing.

Maybe you could do a necropsy on a bird. I am pretty sure there is a link somewhere that you can see what to look for. Well look for spots on any of the organs, and look in the cecal area to see if it is infected. Gail Damerows book has good B&W pics and good diagnosis tools. The Chicken Health Handbook. I think Speckled hen posted something about a good color diagnosis for necropsies, do a search on her and see if you can find anything. Check out the links at the top of the page. what bedding are you using?
are they in a brooder with a light?
what all are you feeding?
describe the droppings..color and consistency.

the gasping might be from eating bedding, inhaling dust or mold spores, or respiratory illness..

for respiratory:
can you get some Tylan 50 injectible?
(available at most farm//feed/livestock supply stores such as TSC in the livestock section..with syringes)
there is also a powdered form of Tylan if you can find it..
available online at JeffersLivestock.com or other livestock suppliers..

sorry i didnt get back sooner, was working late. thanks for all your ideas. the other hen that was gasping died today, but everybody else seems fine. as far as bedding goes i have none, they are on plastic mesh cages and i let them out, in the yard. i dont let the chicks out of the cage. i think for sure the hen caught some kind of respirstory disease.
