I have 3 female and 1 male coturnix quail that are a bit over a year old. Recently I hatched two quail in my incubator. They are almost 2 months old now, so I put them outside in my aviary, with a fence separating them from the adults. There is enough room for them to put a bit of their heads through the fence, but not their bodies. This morning I came out to my younger male quail bleeding from his face, and flesh hanging off. I rushed him inside and cleaned him up. Even the adult males and females are mean to my smaller female. They haven’t made her bleed, but they pick on her enough that I’m afraid they will. For now I put a peiece of wood in between the quail so they can’t see each other. This is the younger male:
I keep them as pets, so I really don’t want to get rid of the adults. And I also have some quail that are a few weeks old, but the 2 month old quail pick on them too, so I can’t put any of the age groups together without them fighting. What do I do??!!
