How much do you really know about Marek's Virus? I think one should read up on an illness before one makes a statement about it.This whole episode read like a novel - I could have given some advise early on - but held my tongue - first off - chickens that are sick should be culled - why? - because keeping sick chickens around only spreads disease around to others - you might think that you won't spread the sickness but its near impossible not to - even wild birds can pick up some disease from sick chickens and then spread it around - most of the time people will not cull a chicken based on how they feel and not on how the chicken feels - if you are not willing to cull a chicken you shouldn't raise them - I know it might sound cruel but that's the facts of life - if I was a chicken and I didn't feel good I would rather bite the dust - JoePa
This thread has a lot of information in it that could very well help someone later on. I would really hate to see this thread shut down because of negativity. Something I learned on another thread....when you see something like this posted, click on the person's name and you can see if this is their usual means of giving helpful information. If it is, don't answer or if you really must, PM that person with your thoughts and questions. I've seen way too many threads shut down because of nastiness and the good info contained in the thread lost.
JoePA is entitled to his views and welcome to post them. That's what BYC is all about. It is up to the rest of us to either ignore and move on, or agree and call it good. Just my 2 cents.

A fact of life is that without feeling, emotion or remorse, we are nothing but sociopaths. People should take responsibility for their animals or shouldn't raise them. I'm pretty confident with my opinion of what "responsibility" is. People that post here and ask for help are also looking for support with what they believe their responsibility is. And I have respect for anyone who comes here for help because they take their "responsibility" seriously.
My Beezus died. The night before I made her vomit just to make her comfortable. The next day she stood all day with her eyes closed. I knew. My hubby did not want to euthanize her, I can't blame him, I didn't want to either. He buried her and I said a prayer.
Thanks for the support.
