I have a broody hen sitting on 6 eggs in a corner of one of my coops. She is in with 2 other hens and a cockbird. Her 3 roommates have never been around chicks before, so I would like to have her separated from the others for the first couple days to see how everyone is going to get along. (Basically the "see but no touch" method). I would like to have a removable structure, something I can reuse, for similar future situations.
I'm thinking of a 2 piece, L shaped structure to box in the corner. I thought of nailing hardware cloth to 2 separate boards (just on the bottom) to form the L, attaching them together with zip ties, installing some small eye hooks on the walls to attach the sides with zip ties, and cutting a separate hardware cloth roof piece (again attached with zip ties). It has to be in two pieces to fit through the doorway which is not very wide. I would like the box to be 3'x3'x3'. I have access to tools, all sorts of fence and lumbar - just no imagination or carpenter skills. So I need some suggestions please!
