Help me calibrate my HYGROMETER

can some one tell me a diferen way to calibrate a hygrometer other than the salt please?


the thing its tha we can never find salt with out iodine like a post i found says is it posible that i could do it with regular salt with iodine added?
any other methods?

Everywhere says not to use salt with iodine but they dont say how much it effects the test. I dont think anyone really knows.

Yall dont have the big jar sized containers of mortans salt at yalls store?

Just an IMO, I have both iodized and non-iodized salt. I calibrated before I set and I actually calibrated the same hygrometers two different times using each type. It made no difference.

I don't believe the iodine makes an iota of difference.

But if you just gotta have non-iodized then most all kosher salt (look in the ethnic or Jewish food section) and all canning salt (with the canning supplies) are non-iodized.

Don't mean to cut in on your thread, but how do you calibrate a hygrometer? Mine is the walmart thermo/hygro combination type. Should I have calibrated it?

I think there is a lot of other stuff in sea salt so I dont know how well it would work.
