I am VERY new to this. In fact this is the first forum I have EVER attempted so please bear with me. I am a mother of three young children and I want to be able to raise a backyard flock. Among many other reasons; I want them to experience all the joys of raising chickens, as I did when I was young. As of right now, my local "land use codes" prohibit the keeping of chickens in my backyard. I want to begin the process of changing those land use codes in my area. I am just beginning so I am looking for ANY advice anyone might have. I already visited www.chicken-revolution.com and am trying to follow the appropriate steps. Which brings me to my next point. I am also looking for "like-minded" people to start a small group and get this going, I would guess that it might be helpful if you lived in the Brandon FL area but I would appreciate ANYONE. So, if anyone out there is like me and wants to share the joy of collecting eggs every morning, on your own or with your family. Or if you are a seceret chicken keeper in the Brandon area already, and want to make it legal so you can come out of hiding please contact me! I look forward to hearing from you!

from California. Good for you for looking into changing the laws that allow backyard chickens. If you post your intentions on this forum under Chicken Laws and Ordinances you'll get some support from members who have been through this. Go to Index on blue bar, and you'll see the topic here. Good luck!

Its great to have you here with us! I live south of you, and we aren't allowed to have chickens either, so I keep them secretly. I know your delema. Let me know what I can do, and who knows, maybe it can help us chicken lovers down south, huh?
