Help me choose, bantams or Corturnix?

I think quail have bags of personality, the only thing is that they don't seem to get as friendly as chickens. They may eat more food but they have the best conversion rates of almost any poultry species, better than chickens. The food for them is much more difficult to come by though, and I guess it might be more expensive, I haven't done the maths. I also really like the little sounds they make The eggs have a better yolk to white ratio, which makes them more nutritious, they have more good cholesterol to bad cholesterol, and I've also read that they have anti-inflammatory properties which make them good for allergy sufferers. Of course, all this stuff came from the internet, so there's a chance that the stats have been twisted a little, but quail are still great little birds

Why not both the chickens could be indoor pet and the quail could produce the eggs while you wait for the hens

Thank you, everyone. Arica, I like the way you think. If I get a small bantam hen that goes broody, maybe she can hatch quail eggs for me eventually.

You would also have a good varity of eggs and have now need for an incubator I go a silkie just for an incubator. I also know some one that has and avairy and has bantums for an incubators

I am off to a bird sale today. My fingers are crossed for a bantam and several female quail
Shopping online locally has brought me no quail.

I have finally found sources for birds. Now I need to figure out housing. I have a coop and run outside for female quail. Boys and bantams must be indoors. Speedy, do you keep your bantams indoors or can you give me tips for keeping two bantam hens indoors or point me to information?

I refer chicken and quail outside. It going to smell really bad and too much work indoor. Here are my quail pen & chicken coop. The quail pen still need to finish nipple water system and large feeder box at each end of the pen. I hope to get this done by summer.

If you want indoor, I don't see why not. I hope the drawing below help. The sand will keep the pen dry and easy clean up. The cat scoop will do the trick.
