Haven't been on for a while, but love the changes :)

So, I want bantams for 4-H. And my mom isn't against having bantams, she just want's me to get some good reasons on why I should get bantams.

I'm planning on getting 3 birds-

(I know Salmon Faverolle's aren't bantams, but my dad & I agree they're cute so we're rolling with it).

They would all be day old chicks & shipped from the website chickensforbackyards.com. (P.S. Any suggestion's on that site? I like the selection & the minimum chicks mainly because we live in the city, and the maximum is 6 :) ) My points so far are
  • More eggs
  • Quieter (hopefully  )
  • 4-H birds
  • super cute
  • Don't take up as much room
  • Don't eat as much
  • More easy going

Forgot to mention something- I already have 2 Full Sized hens, one is the nicest thing ever, the other one is also super sweet, just a bit food protective.

That's all I have. Do you guys have any other points, or places? Thanks!

SF are very calm and docile. Calmest birds we’ve ever had. We’ve had 3 total, from 2 sources, all female. Pretty sure I’ve seen SF bantam sized, but may be harder to

often bantams are not sexed, so you’ll need a plan for any males. So, maybe get 1 extra since you have room for 4 more birds.

4-H: a bantam is easier to handle and transport and show in the ring. If you have a showmanship portion of the judging, they are generally considered easier to handle. They will have more room in the cage if they are at the show/fair for several days.

good luck.
