Help me convince them about a rooster!

Lots of good reasons above!
For me... I love hearing a rooster crow... I find it very comforting.

A rooster will protect and sacrifice himself before one of his hens is attacked by a predator. If you decide to get a rooster, make sure you quarantine him and give him a good going over while he's quarantined.

My memory of roosters crowing early in the morning is enough to not want roosters. BUT I ended up with a few in my EE order of 25. I'm learning to live with them! One is still trying to learn to crow, the others stay quiet, so far. They are housed in the coop overnight where the sound is muffled, in the morning I let them out. THen I don't mind the occassional crow. GL

My friend made a small coop for his rooster, using insulator and plywood. When I walked into his yard, I could only hear a very low sound of the crowing. If I stayed around 20 foot away or in his house, I couldn't hear anything of the sound. You can make a rooster box if early moring cowing is the only issue.
