Help me decide what kind of chicken to get................

i have storeys guide to poultry i bought it at atwoods i've been looking at it . i might get cochins since they are "kid friendly" because i am a kid.

Do you or someone you know have an incubator? Is there anyone here who will donate some eggs? I have a bantam frizz hen and a Del standard roo who make nice babies. Gotta go to a party so I'll post pics later.

it doesnt have to be show quality does anyone know of a hatchery with a minimum order of 4 or less chicks? except for my pet chicken, we dont live close enough to a big city to only order 3. so any hatchery except for mypetchicken with a min. order of 4 or less.

Ideal is in TX...not too far. I've bought a lot from them and have been happy with them. I do have a bunch of Bantam Cochins, blks, blues and frizzled. I find them friendly. Also have a bunch of roos I "forgot" to get rid of. LOL Only one has too much 'tude. Also have 8 Blue Silkies that are soooo very soft. I have reg size chickens but appreciate the little kids too. I let the Banties out to run around my back yard daily...because I think they look cute out there against the green grass... they're basicly for looks.
I'm easily amused. Good luck with your choice.

i'm still not sure about the frizzled cochins i'm thinking either buff or blue (or both) silkies, or barred rock banties, or ee's probably not ameraucanas. which one would you guys get?

i think i'll go with assorted colors of silkies from lazy 54 hatchery, if your order is under 25 you have to pay $1.00 for every chick under 25. So if you were ordering 3 chicks you would have to pay $22.00 extra but I will be ordering marans too, so it won't be that bad, if i could sell the japanese chicks that i have now I would have enough to pay for the order.................
