Help me decide

Blue orpington or buff orpington? I have a lavender on order laready and am open to getting a 2nd one of thoes but didnt know if one of the other 2 were better or worth trying as well. Note. This are for my mom and daughters who like calmer chickens to be around.

There is no difference in personality, egg laying, health, etc. between the two. The only difference is color. It's the same as a black lab and a golden lab. You just have to choose which color you think is nicer!

If you can only get one I would go with Blue only because Buff is much easier to find so if later you want to add one you can find one much easier. But I agree with other poster, why not one of each?

Some years ago I finally got a buff orp…she was not the friendliest hen at all! So many others turned out to be so sweet and friendly.,like people…they all are individuals pretty much…my sweetest? Sicilian buttercup, bantam Cochin,basque hen (Oruduna sp?)and of course a silkie..but not all my silkies were like that…crap shoot

Yes, one of each and then report back We have Buffs and love them, each one is so unique in personality and super sweet.

I gota lavender and a blue lol. Ill probably add more once i do my second batch of meat chickens later this year tbh. I get them next week and am so happy.
