I honestly hadn't thought of Ruby as old until I saw her playing with Brewster. He has so much energy. Rudy's face is getting so gray. Someday Brewster will be grieving for her. We are getting at an age where we have to think about our own mortality before getting more pets.

Brewster is so happy here. I don't regret bringing him to his new home. I'm glad for the opportunity to make him feel loved.

@BigBlueHen53 that sounds like a fabulous position!
My husband and I are teaching Brewster not to go in and out of doors without being invited. My husband excels at training.
I'm a little slack on the dogs, sort of like the grandchildren. But my husband keeps us all in line. 😉

And hey, I'd love to pictures of everyone else's dogs and pets too.

Talaat, my goofball 3 year old shelter rescue. My favorite cat as far as personality. He cracks me up all the time

Napoleon, my 15 year old patriarch. My favorite cat as far as depth of affection. I've had him since he was 6 weeks old and I got him as a birthday present when I was a teenager. He is very crotchety, and not because of his age. He is always been an "only person" cat. He will tolerate petting from someone else for a couple seconds, then gets angry. Me, on the other hand, I could pet him all day and he loves it.

Feona, also super old. Sweetest cat on planet earth. She is perfect for kids. I've only seen her hiss once at my young children, which is very impressive.

And Maisy, our 8 month old lab mix puppy. We got her off craigslist when she was 4 months old because the previous owner didn't have time for her. She is growing into a very good dog. Very sweet and affectionate and loves people, almost to a fault. Training has been going very well. I'm very proud of myself and her. I had dogs growing up but this is the first dog I've ever trained on my own. It's kind of interesting, my husband talked about getting a dog for years and now that we finally got one, she's my dog. 😂
He likes her, he's just not that interested in doing training and spending time with her.

I'm loving that Ruby and Brewster are doing so well now.
Brewster looks like the boxer I grew up with, one of the best dogs we've ever had (did I say that already?).
I wonder if Ruby's training will help encourage Brewster to listen more.

@LaFleche oh so cute. I've never seen one of those fuzzy dogs in person; they look so fancy. What kind are the others?

@Isadora T Your cats are so cute! Talaat definitely looks like a goof ball. Napoleon knows what he likes and you're the one one who knows how to do it
I love cats but my DH is allergic.

I have 2 huskies and my husband is obviously the leader but they listen to me for the most part. I wish we could take them on walks without leashes but they have a high prey drive. Interesting enough, they've improved with the chickens if we are around; they howl with the chickens every morning.

@Isadora T that last pic is the cutest! I've considered getting a second cat, but Boo is not friendly to the feral cats that stop by on occasion. Also, I feel like we lucked out with her. She is a good mouser (moles actually, but moler doesn't sound right 🤣) and she never bothers the baby chicks.
@Madhouse Pullet post some Pictures. Lots of pictures! ☺

My first boxer made it to 10. My second to 9. My current one is about to turn 9. I am thankful for every day with my dogs. Their lives are too short. Boxers tend live life fast and burn out too soon.

That is so true. I was shocked that Dexter made it to 11. He was on steroids for the last year. He had to be hand fed and watered.
We should have had him put down, I guess, but he still seemed happy. He was still walking with me almost every day. Ruby is in much better condition and is about 20lbs lighter than he was, but you just never know.

I know how it feels - the stress AND the relief! Our current dogs didn't get along at first. They didn't trust each other and got into at least one scuffle every month for almost a whole year. I was stressed out which didn't help lessen their stress. We got some advice from a trainer and things have been WAY better. I showed the dogs that I am in charge and won't let them hurt each other. We still watch them closely when they're together, but I and they have been able to relax.

The first dog we gave a forever home to was a boxer. He lived to 14 and was AMAZING with other animals. He was goofy his whole life. He learned that spinning in circles was fun when he was 7 years old. Your Ruby reminds me so much of him.
