I got a box of assorted bantams from Ideal last week and am having a lot of fun figuring out what all I got. Here's a few pictures so you can help me guess too. I'll add more as I get photos of them. I got a lot of different types!

#1 and 2: From looking at pictures on the hatchery site, I think these are Cochin, either black or birchen. What do you think?

#3: This one also has narrow black chipmunk stripes on its back, but I can't get it to stand still for a picture from the back. I have no clue what this is.

#4 and 5: These are white with gray wingtips, and are very tiny. We got two of them.

#6: Buff Cochin? This is my nephew's choice for his 4-H bird, he named it Jimmy.

you are right on the black or birchen cochins and the #3 chick looks to be a silver sebright or SL OEGB, 4&5 could turn out to be anything, and 6 is a buff Cochin. I wanted to say that you should never choose which chick you want to show until you can tell their type.

Well, they are out of sebrights, so it like #3 could be the silver laced OEG. He's got attitude enough to be a game lol. I just had to wash his little pasty butt again for the third day in a row and he screamed and pecked and kicked the whole time. He is the only one who objects to it.

I don't think 4 and 5 are Delaware, as Ideal doesn't have those in bantam. EEs could be a possibility.

I wanted my nephew to wait a bit to pick his show bird, but he's insisting this is the one he wants. He can always change his mind later, I guess. He probably will if it turns out to be a female, he's at that stage where he only wants male animals and thinks his sister should only have girl animals.

Just because they are out of Silver Sebrights doesn't mean that didn't have a few extra hatch or some orders cancelled, One time in August I got a Bantam Sultan in my order and they had been sold out since February

Oh, good to know, chickenlover54. I wouldn't mind having a sebright.

#3 is always straight up and proud of himself like that. He's got a lot of fight in him, and boy is he a complainer when something is not to his liking! He got really bad pasty butt and my husband kept saying, 'there's no way that chick is going to make it this time' because he was so sick and constipated, but half an hour later, he'd be standing up tall again and screaming to go back with the other chicks and eat more food! With how long his legs are, I thought he might be a modern game, but could not find any that matched his color.

I'll get pictures of the rest this evening. It's so fun figuring out what they are, and we've got more coming next week!
