I have 12 layers in my coop, and without fail every day I seem to get 2 small eggs (not bantam sized, but small!) amongst the other large to extra large eggs that I get. I really would like to figure out who is doing it. All these layers are just under 1 year old. I get these small eggs probably 5x/wk. They are a light to medium brown.

Here's what's in the coop:
1-Buff Orpington
1-Australorp
1-Australorp or Jersey Giant.. has a dark eye...not sure what she is!
1-Delaware
2-Welsummers
1-Red Sex Link
1-Silver laced Wyandotte
1-GOlden laced Wyandotte
1-Cuckoo Maran
1-Barred Rock
1-White Leghorn

Ok, so we can take out the leghorn obviously, but I'm not too quick to take out the Welsummers or the Maran.. I only get 1 darker large egg a day, speckled, so that might be one of the Welsummers. One of the small eggs I get does have some spots usually, and is often darker on 1 end than the other. I'm pretty sure it's not the Delaware, since they usually lay a large lighter egg (I get 2-3 light extra large eggs/day). ANy thoughts?

Thanks! Anyone else have ideas as to the other egg? Or both? She's just hatchery stock so it wouldn't surprise me if she did lay a small light egg..

Probably not the Australorp either, they tend to be speckled. At least mine were. I did have a SL wyandotte that would lay dinky little eggs at times.

I have a French Marans, Betty and she lays a beautiful, tasty egg that's always kind of small. Sometimes she pumps it up to medium but that's about it. She's 9 months old so maybe they'll get bigger. But she lays almost everyday, and that's cool!
