Help me ID these bugs in coop!

We have loads of these little winged black bugs in the coop. Noticed them during our deep cleaning. Any ideas? We're in our first year of chicken keeping. It's been really wet here in Kansas, and the winter has been on the mild side.

They appear to be midges which do not feed as adults. Relatively close kin to mosquitos. They will likely form a mating swarm this evening that you can see dancing over some structure like a tree, bush, path or hill. Not a problem.
