Help me kill whatever is digging these holes around my pen...... :)

I laid plywood all around my pen and coop and I have no signs of anything digging. They would not be able to dig in even if they tried. I pushed the plywood pieces up to and under all sides. The wire on the pen is attached to a wooden frame (top and bottom), then I covered the wood with a small amount of dirt. It has worked so far for me. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks everyone for your good suggestions. (ok, the penis one didn't count.

My DH and I spent the better part of the day putting wire around the bottom of the coop walls, and weighed the wire down with wood beams. We covered over the beams with bedding material, and we'll see what happens tonight.

We were blessed that we didn't lose anymore of the girls overnight. We'll see what morning brings.

As a side note: The poor chicks have been sooooo stressed, the egg count has dropped quite a bit. Today I had seven eggs! I was happy, but it was fleeting. I managed to slip on the ice on my way back to the house. I broke all but one egg.

If they are rats use a pellet gun. Me and my friend one night shot 7 rats with them. Every night i shot one or i trap one. They were huge. It cut my population down big time.
