Hello

I could use some suggestions laying out the inside of the coop. I need help with the roost and the height of it. In the picture I added the right side wall furthest away will be the Addor automatic door. Should I add a ramp up to the roost? I also plan on adding a poop board under the roost.

The left wall you can see the nest box area already framed out.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and pictures a big plus.

Nice Coop! Sorry I can't help with the lay out inside as we are just learning as well. We would love to duplicate it, would you have any plans or more pictures that you would like to share by chance?

gorgeous set up:)) I am rebuilding, made this over the winter , it's a combo, roost/poop board/nest box..

This is what I have now below

Above was "pre chickens"..unfortunately I'm having to rebuild, storm sandy :( But I tend to like my nesting boxes below my poop board etc, to save on space.

Wow! really nice size. It looks huge.

How many chicks?

I would put the nesting boxes to the left of your door so you can reach them without having to go inside. Not really sure about roost size. I am using cinderblocks to set the roost in mine right now. This way I can take it out/raise it/move it around as needed. I got the roost about 3ft off the floor and my chicks can jump up on it without any problems so far.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I have a total of 10 chicks that will be living there. The coop is 8X7 and the run is a total of 16 X 8. I can not take all the credit here because I copied off of this thread and just made it a little bit larger. So most of my planning came from this forum and lots of reading.

As far as the nest boxes I am building a 4 nest box based off of this thread. We will access the eggs from the outside so no need to get into the coop for the eggs.

I will get some better pictures tomorrow for all to check out.
