Hi KDK1 ! Thanks for the compliments on the Golden Sebrights. They did come from a Top Breeder !
They are my 12 yr. old son's favorite breed. My other son may get some Silver Sebrights next year, if he proves to be a good chicken caretaker with his 4 black silkies (he's 5, almost 6 yrs. old).
Hey, NotSuperWoman.....your new chicken coop has a lot of potential !
I was going to suggest building a wooden frame structure to raise the whole thing up to waist level and connect them (add your slanted roof, whatever else -door to the run, nest box access) but then not sure you wanted a fenced in bottom for the run or just a dirt ground. I did like one guy's chicken coop. It was raised up to eye level and had a very clean wire bottom fence to the run. guess the birds are small enough that the droppings go right through. maybe that's the key - bigger square fencing so the droppings fall through and not get stuck on the fencing and have to be moved out with a garden hoe.
Can't wait to see pics of whatever you decide to do when it's done.
Sorry to hear "you" have to build it yourself. It's much easier to watch my husband build it that to go rummaging for materials and swing the hammer yourself. But sometimes you have no choice and you do have to get it done by yourself. At least when I build something, it gets done in one day. Not the timeline he has for "doing it the proper way according to proper building construction (aka overkill)."
Good luck and stay safe (don't hurt yourself).
