So I got this teensie tiny Australorp chick at my local SS on Friday, and for the last 5 days I've been debating what to name her. I first decided on Penguin, because her whole stomach is white along with most of her head, but I didn't like that very much after a while. Its a tie between Sheila and Chatty at this point.

I like Sheila because that's Australian (Usually goodhearted) slang for woman, and she's an Australorp, the national chicken breed of Australia. The only reason I'm leaning a little bit away from that is because whenever I say Sheila the first thing to come to mind is Kyle's mom, Sheila, from South Park.

The reason Chatty is in the running is because this chick Does. Not. Stop. Peeping.
I'm serious when I say this. She peeps when she's awake, when she's being held, when she's playing with her sister, when her sister's asleep and she wants someone to play with, when she's saying hello to the cat, when she's eating, and even while she's asleep. And it's not the sweet little cooing peeps, its the ear-splitting-if-your-in-the-same-room-as-her peep. I don't think anything's wrong with her. (At least I hope not.) I love her to death but she is LOUD. :D I do really like this name, but if she grows up and turns into this quiet little background-bird, THEN what am I going to do? (lol)

Which do you think?

(I'll upload her pic when I get the chance.)

Australorps, both female and male, are quite vocal, and do a lot better when they have at least one more Australorp in their flock.
Good to know. Will she be ok without one? I don't really have room for more chickens at this point :jumpy:wee

Will it be ok? Probably. Just keep in mind for future reference, they do better when there is more than 1 of their kind. Jibber Jabber is a good name.
