Oh redhen-did you see what time I posted? I get up at 4:30 am and don't stayup too late too often! Along with some eggs I scrambled my brains too!
I was copying from another website about the crazy brindle gene and what the story is... in mastiffs if you have a brindle, then you can't depend on the laid back, easy going personality of an english Mastiff. Sometimes-they learn fast and forget fast and while they will love you with everything, it may take everything to get thru the first 3 years!
Sorry about the senseless copy and paste

dont know what you should name him (though I do like Major Paine) but he is absolutely adorable! How are your other dogs taking to him? I know that was something that you were concerned about. I hope it all goes smoothly with them! I don't know if I could handle one 100+ pound dog, let alone FOUR of them! My 70 pounder is quite enough for me! Won't be long before you can't pick him up anymore but I'm sure he will always be all over your lap.

I'm quite happy to be called Moose!!! My mother has an English mastiff named Gunther, and her other mastiff was called Murdoch.

I need to get my camera fixed so I can take some pics of my four mastiffs. They are awsome. We love'em dearly. Great home protection, they are very intimidating, will bark like crazy, but arent agresive towards humans until agressin is shown, (and then they play!) My male is 3.5 feet tall and clears 100 lbs. he can out his head on the kitchen table ( just by walking by and laying his head on it) My other 3 are females and are about 3 feet tall. They also clear 100 lbsand are just love bugs. One of them is blind. Cant see a thing. One of my neighbors clipped her with her car when she was a pup and took her sight. She denies it, but her 6 year old told us "mom hit that dog" . Anyway. It was once quoted " Mastiffs are to dogs, what lions are to the cats".
It is great that you are now part of the mastiff world. They are truely awsome.
Did you know that English Mastiffs of course started out in England, but they were bread as guard dogs for the English Royalty. These dogs where kept in large numbers and would rome the grounds freely. If someone was there that wasnt supposed to be these dogs would knock them down and keep them there barking loudly until guards would arrive.
Anyway, just a little info for ya.
