Hi all:)

May just say this site is my new best friend!

So I'm getting chickens. fact. At this rate they shall live in my bedroom. fact.

I have looked at wooden coops, plastic coops, round coop, square coops, blue coops, pink coops, small coops and more palatial than a mansion coops. quite frankly I'm cooped out!

This is where I turn to you, my BYC guru's!

Honest advice and opinions would be valued please, buy or build? eglu or wood? is an eglu all in the marketing? my heads all a cluck! so really any opinion is a useful opinion!

So please let the advice begin

Welcome!
Now lets see, wood so it can be expanded easily for sure. Tall enough to walk in or else very small to ease cleanning out. Outside eggnest that are accessible by hens from inside, covered ofcourse.
Be ready before you order chicks. The largest run you can afford. Read, read and read some more. Good Luck Gloria Jean

I made my coop because Dad thought it would be fun.

There are advantages to building your own coop, such as you get to design it however you want. And it can be easier to add on.
But it tends to be easier to just buy your own. Less time, but it can be more expensive depending on where you buy it. You can find some relatively cheap, good coops on Craigslist.
