I live in Stockton California in San Joaquin county. We have just been given a card business card from code enforcement taped to our door. Of course we called to see what they wanted. Seems a neighbor has complained about my 4 girls (chickens). I had checked previously with the City of Stockton and your allowed pullers but no roosters. Perfect! Now come to find out in San Joaquin the zoning for my area is low density and prohibits chickens. My girls are free range and we'll behaved...only announce laying for another 5 min between the hours of 8-10 a.m. Other than that you wouldn't even know I have them. Is there any way I can fight this? I'm not having any luck finding codes on this and I have not officially received a letter to comply. Please help

this is a tough situation

even in cities that allow chickens .. there's still the lot size requirement.. for my city for example houses with lot size < 6000 sq ft can not have chickens

there's a noise ordinance in most cities-- hens are noisy when they are about to lay an egg for the day-- it's worst when 3-4 of them fighting for the same nesting box (1 out of 2)
