Help me shop for a Kitchenaid

Okay, I think the ice cream maker attachment would be enough to convince him we need the bigger model.

Hee hee.

Oooh I didn't know there was an ice cream attachment! I will have to look into that.

I'm not sure what model I have, I got it for Christmas from my mom. I think it's 5 quarts. I make bread dough in it, enough for 4 small loaves, and it fits in the bowl and mixes great.

The only complaint I have is that the stuff in the very bottom center of the bowl doesn't get mixed in unless you reach in and scrape down the sides and stir up the very bottom. Not a huge problem or anything, but you just have to make sure you do it or when you dump the dough/batter out you'll find a wad of dry ingredients in the bottom! Does anyone else have this problem?

Andorra, I had that problem when I was trying to mix too large batches in my smaller KA. But with the larger one, I don't.

BTW, the Ice cream attachment fits all KA stand mixers.

Okay, Im giving some serious thought, after thinking about this and reading all day, to going ahead and getting the Pro 600 and just being done with it. It should last me forever. Terrie, have you used yours much? Ive been reading online about it, and one person complained that it drew too much electric. And another one (this one cracked me up) said that there was a flaw in it, where it you ran it for 15 minutes straight, it would kick off due to over heating. Who runs a mixer for 15 straight minutes ??

Terrie, give me the good and bad with this bad boy.

I'm watching this thread with interest, too.

Artisan vs. 600, which is better? (Apart from size/capacity...)

I use mine almost every day.

Once I get my center island installed, I will use it more.

I actually have 2. One is the 600 and one is the regular Artisan.

I use the Artisan for small batches of stuff. But I use the Pro more.

The artisian is too small bowl wise for things like... making 60 cupcakes for your niece's 8th birthday party...., if you double or triple batches, you'll run out of room.

Would the Artisan do me just as well? I dont have a large family to cook for, I cook a loaf of bread once a week. I dont know how much more I would cook if I had a mixer, but I dont think Id be doing multiple loaves or anything like that.

Edit to read the above post: Would the Artisan work if Im not doing double and triple batches of things?
