as you can see I have 1 little chick, it might be a gineefoul crossed with a cockerel.. As it came out of a gineefoul egg but there is no males.. But in the chicken eggs that hatched there is a baby gineefoul looking chick.. Strange ehh? We assumed that all the gineefoul eggs are rotten as there is no male and the female list complete interest in them and refused to sit on them, when I got them they were stone cold, we cracked 2 over a drain and it was just rotten egg, but the third was this little guy.. Not sure if hes healthy as really wobbly, sleeps alot, and has a weird grinding noise all the time? Can anyone help me.. The sack was fully gone, tried putting it with the mother but was rejected and she rejected the other gineefoul
Eggs that are now in a incubator
Since the egg sack is completely absorbed, just keep him very warm, like at 97 to 99 F for the next one to two days.
He won't have to eat for the first 48 hours after hatch, and might just need to sleep and keep warm.
Hopefully, about 24 hours after hatch (well, his assisted hatch), he should start looking a bit better.
Once he is looking better, you can sprinkle some chick starter on the floor of his brooder, and add water that he has NO risk of falling into and drowning in.
Some how he jumped out of the box which is about a metre drop.. He was fine all day and night.. But he just skwarks for me until I get him, is this normal? As he still skwarks when he's with me?
Just my opinion but I believe he is lonely and needs momma attention from you. My first hatch was very needy of me wanting to be cuddled but once the second came got abit less. But still very much my cuddle buddy at 11 weeks old lol. I hope she stays that way. Swaddle him close and he should quiet down some but baby chick noises are just so darn cute as they never seem to stop.
He (well I'm guessing its a boy) loves the attention of being just in one hand which is basically closed, I hate leaving him on his own as it kills me just as much as it does him.. He won't sleep in his home unless he cried himself to sleep, but when he's with me he happily falls asleep in my hand... Also he follows me around, I walk and he trails after me at only 3 days old
