I have 3 duck eggs in the incubator that should be hatching any day (like today or tomorrow). And I just now noticed that the heat is way to high but the ducklings are fully developed and I was wondering how long can they live with the heat up high please help I'm so worried

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! How high is high? How long have they been too high? A lot depends on this. Prolonged high temps could kill the ducklings too high is worse than too low. At this stage in incubation the ducklings will be producing some heat of their own could this have sent your temp up slighly? Here is the link for the duck section for more advice on this https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks

Yes, how HIGH?? At this late stage there is often slight movement of the egg, especially if you tap the egg slightly. Temps too low usually result in slower development but, too high can cook them in the shell. Do you know how high and for how long??

I want to thank you guys first of all :) , and second maybe around 107? And I have no idea how long, how long can they be at that heat?

107 is high and are you using still air or a fan incubator? That high really it really wouldn't take too long to kill the embryo. There is no definitive answer as to how long it would take. Have you got it back down? I would candle the eggs to check for movement in them if you see movement or you are not sure leave them in and see what happens. Fingers crossed it was not for too long and they hatch ok.

Good luck :fl

Thank you so much :) and I grabbed them and I feel movement and these ducklings are so important to me because it was my 15th birthday yesterday and I want them to have around the same birthday as me

Oh and I don't think one of them isn't moving but I'll probally wait like two days before I do something :/

I'm staying at this rental house right now because my house burnt down on October 19 :( I'm ready to go home ..
