We have two chocolate runner ducks, a male, and a female. They've been together since birth. We've had them about two years, a little more.
Last night we couldn't find them to put them in the coop. We looked everywhere with flashlights. They were nowhere to be found, which is odd because they usually stick around. This morning we awoke to only one duck. The female is the only one around. I went out and looked but there's no sign of the male anywhere. She's been standing on the deck quacking, maybe for her friend? We don't have any other ducks, only chickens.
Will she be ok at the only duck? Should I find her a home with other ducks?
Eating her is NOT an option. She is a pet and we love her and her brother dearly.

If you haven't found any sign of your drake, no blood, no feathers, it is very likely he was taken by a Coyote or a Fox. Do you have Foxes or Coyotes where you live? It could also be a (wild) dog. I lost my big drake Donald in the very same way, my wife had spotted two Coyotes some days before and i have seen a fox checking out my ducks two days ago.
As others have written before: Such a predator will come back for more, so the only ways to prevent further losses are fortification (I hooked up a neon transformer to my outer fences overnight), hunting the predator down or (life) trapping and disposing.
So sorry for your loss! :hugs - I felt numb for days after Donald's disappearance.
But your lonely duck needs you now! As it is a female you could scout the local farm supply stores and look for the oldest ducklings you can find and buy two or more as company for her. She will not be happy as a lonely duck, especially not when she had company in the past.
Another possibility is CraigsList, maybe somebody is giving away a drake, sometimes even for free.
Good Luck!

Yes we do have coyotes and foxes. We used to have two mallard ducks that wouldn't go into the coop one night and they suffered a similar fate except we did find one of the mallards remains the next day :(
Our coop is well protected against predators with a cement foundation, auto close steel door, double wired windows. The ducks have always been really good about coming back to the coop at night and even if they weren't in the coop they would be close by and we would just herd them in. Last night I saw them both about 5 pm and then my boyfriend went out not too much later and they were gone. Fabio and Touretta are brother and sister so they've been together since birth.
We don't have the space to get anymore ducks. I can check craiglist for a male for her but we are at our max. I'm a full time student and I work and my boyfriend works full time so baby ducks aren't an option right now. Maybe I can find her a home with other ducks but also giving her away will break my heart. Will other ducks be mean to her? Do ducks have a pecking order like chickens?

Try Craig's list.
