Nu-Stock will heal the area and deter picking at the same time. Wear disposable gloves when applying the Nu-Stock. Shake the tube well and continue to apply as needed. It should be in the equine section at a feed store. Feathers will regrow in time.

At night after dark or early in the morning before sun’s up is a good time to take a chicken off the roost and treat them. I use a headlamp and turn on the red light to remove them.

@Eggcessive is correct. I like to do it in the early morning. Once you snatch him off the roost, you can snuggly tie his legs together with shoestring. Then apply the Nu-Stock. Wrapping him in a towel might work, but it might interfere with applying the Nu-Stock to the effected areas. I'd use a shoestring.
