I came home and found this duckling in the run and not under its mama. It had a blob of blood beside it on the ground. I don't know what happened, but it was quite a distance from the nest. It is still breathing and I found it about an hour ago. Is there anything I can do? I've placed some moistened paper towels on it.
I've marked tomorrow as the 35th day. They are muscovy so they should be hatching any day really. I don't have an incubator.

I have only hatched quail but if it were mine i would pop the remainder of the shell off and get it dried out under a brooder lamp.
I have it under the heat lamp now. But, I don't know if I should remove the shell or continue to keep it moist - both? Or something else all together? :(

I just went to check and could hear it peeping. Anyone know if I should keep a moistened paper towel on it until fully out of the shell?

At this point i think you should assist the hatch. If you see bleeding stop but from the picture i think he is basically there. As for moisture, yes when in the shell no after its out

I should have assisted, but I didn't - I didn't see this post until now either. I peeled a few pieces back, but was scared to do too much. He didn't make it. :(
