HELP my baby isn't doing well!

He didn't make it... I just found him in the same spot we'd put him, all stiff. I buried him under a lilac bush

Thank you so much to everyone for all your advice, I am sure I'll be back panicking about the next bunch soon. It's crazy how attached to these things we can get, so quickly...

Thanks

I'm really sorry he didn't make it. You did everything you could.

I think a cat carrier is going to be too small for 12 baby chicks. I would make a circle out of cardboard and keep them in that. This way they are protected from drafts and have a chance to get closer to the brooder light if they are cold and can move away if they are too warm. Make sure the food and water are in a "neutral' place so the babies won't be uncomfortable getting food or water. If it is too hot they won't eat or drink.

Make sure you have a thermometer on the floor so you can monitor them temp. Also a cardboard circle will give them enough room to stretch their legs and explore and not crowd each other.

Let us know how the new babies do and again I'm sorry for your loss. Hugs!
