I just hatched my first chick of the year and he is almost dead nearly 12 hrs after hatching. He looked alert after hatching and after a few hrs of drying ing the incubator i moved it to the brooder. I showed it how to drinkand it has gone dtheownhill since. Last
year the same thing happened and they all died. Is there something Im doing wrong. Please help

Sorry about your baby

Do they have heat in the brooder?
I'm sure someone with experience will come and give you advice soon...

Can you give us a little more info.
what did you move them into, like what kinda setup do you have brooder wise?
It has been my experence with the wee peas that they don't eat or drink for at least 24 hours after hatch sometimes longer and it takes about 24 hours for them to dry in my hatcher.

We have a brooder set up with a heatlamp. Its about 92 degrees. I left it in the incubator for about 8hrs. He was dry when i moved him. Its a Styrofoam incubator and it doesn't tell me the humidity level. He died an hr ago.

New to this forum. I replied to u under ur post. It is a glass aquarium with a heatlamp. It is 92 inside. He looked good in the incubator a few hrs after hatching but seem to get very lifeless after that. That's y i moved it to the brooder. T never recovered and died about an he ago.

Hum, did it hatch on it's own?
Are you familiar with raising baby's? i ask cause that gives us an idea how much help you might need, like if you never done this kinda thing then you might not know some things

can you take a photo of the wee one?

Sorry for your loss. Teflon coated heatlamps can cause this. Personally, I'm not a fan of the aquarium style brooder, seems like ventilation could be an issue.
