Help! My banty roosters are fighting!

Ok, I'll keep them separate at least until the one is healed. Then we'll decide what we're going to do with them.

I would separate until healed. If they are free ranged and have plenty of space, they will probably work things out. But, if you can't handle the chance of somebody getting hurt they will have to be separated. Mine have always worked things out. I've had Old English Fame Banties, other Banties and lots of large fowl Roos.

They've always been free range with plenty of space. The only time they are locked up is in the coop at night.

Me personally, If you want to keep both, you are going to need a bachelor coop, or another coop with run and give an adequate number of girls to both...

He needs to be fully healed though before you let him back near the other roo and chickens.

Just thought I'd post that he didn't lose his eye! Yeah! Now to figure out what to do with them.

I think you should let the rooster's eye heal. Though you may have to permanently separate them.

Bantam roosters are more aggressive than regular size roosters. I have one Old English game rooster who permanently scared away a Dominique full grown rooster. He hung around hundreds of feet from the coop for several months. Then the Dominique joined a neighbors chicken flock! I have not seen him since. I did later eat that mean rooster.

Just had a similiar situation and ended up getting rid of one. It got pretty rough with all the fighting and it was stressing out the laying hens. Had to choose one or would not have any fertile eggs this Spring. Ultimately glad I did, every body is calm again. Do believe it would have come to death.

I've had the same thing with both my silkie roos.

I guess we all can't get along. I came home in the rain, the less dominant was sitting shivering by himself. He was so sad looking. He's ok, in the garage (he also, did not lose an eye).... but I discovered, too, both boys have mites.

The guys had been getting along...I guess no more. What a pain!

I agree. The injured one should be kept separate until he is fully healed. It is up to you whether or not to see if one will back down and accept a lower place in the pecking order. He may not. They may continue to fight until one kills the other...this happens often. With the size flock you have, you're better off having only one rooster.
