Help! My Broody Silkie was off her eggs about 2.5 hours.

Hey All! Every one of those seven eggs has hatched...and all the chicks look great (again, these are the eggs that mama hen could not get back to for about 2.5 hours last week). Mama is being spoon fed cottage cheese right from the nest. Hospital food...eh? Now, we have our second broody in the house on her seven eggs. Then we have the borrowed LG with seven eggs, these should all hatch between tonight and Tuesday morning, the incubator eggs hatching last. But, guess what, I went in to look at the LG (since the humidity and temp can go all over the place), and one of those eggs has a hole that is peeping. So, I snuck it under our other broody mom as her eggs are peeping and should be pipping tonight. It is crazy happy full of chicks and pips here. I did try to take pics, I will see if they look like anything cute and will post them tomorrow.

Sweet Dreams!

She will be fine. At my uncles farm we were playing pool and we could'nt find a ball so we looked inside the pool table and she attacked us! Then she came back to warm her eggs two hours later! But she had 12 eggs and she cant lay on all of them so i took the two that she abondend to see if i can save them! But one smells funnt and i cant tell if their still alive! What should i do?

She may have abandoned both those since they were stinky. I think most hens can sit on at least 12, unless she is a tiny bantam. I guess I would candle them and if you see anything that looks viable, sneak it back under Mom or put it in the incubator. If it pips, you may consider getting it back under Mama hen so it is not all alone at hatch time.

BUT...I am only beginning to learn, so do check out if any other suggestions come in!

Good luck. The pool table story is really funny.
