Help! My chick has a boil on her shoulder.

She is two weeks old and has been thriving. Then about four days ago I noticed she was pecking at her shoulder. She had a redness there. A friend with chickens told me to put coconut oil on it so I did, but tonight it has grown into a nasty looking boil. The other chicks were pecking at it so I moved her into her own brooder box. She is obviously in a lot of discomfort. Should we lance the boil? Let it resolve itself? Any help will be most appreciated.

Make sure that you are not mistaking the crop where her food is stored after eating, for a boil. The crop is in the right upper chest.
