Hi guys, this egg had a hole in it and so I put it in the incubator. It started to pip but no progress was made for about 15 hours so i picked a little bit at the shell and the chick was fine. The egg was doing fine today and the chick was normal but in his efforts to hatch he fell to the bottom part of the incubator (a couple inches). The rest of the egg fell off but a small bit was still attached to him, not sure if it was the umbilical chord but there was something white coming out of him too. My grandfather is a retired doctor so I called him and he said the best idea was to cut it off because it would keep pulling more, so I did that. The chick is peeping up a storm and seems to be doing fine but I’m so worried about it. It’s chances of survival are pretty slim at this point I think but all I can do is wait I guess. Does anyone have any advice or know what to do? I saw on another forum to push the remaining stuff in (gently) with a q-tip so i did that but they are coming out again. I don’t know what to do. Attached are photos

Looks ok! He'll totally make it ;) Just put some betadine or iodine on it to be sure it doesn't get infected, but it should dry up/close off on it's own!

Yes, if you don't have the things above, Neosporin or polysporin works too - you can put it in a coffee cup (with some paper towel in it) in the incubator to help it from moving too much as it closes off.
