so a chickens crop sits just above the 'keel' or top of the breast bone and slightly to their right, it acts as a temporary storage facility for the food before it goes down to the rest of the digestive system, it has the capacity to enlarge quite a lot, so much so that when the bird gorges itself there can be such a big bump it looks like the chicken might fall over forwards. the throat obviously runs down the neck and joins the beak and the crop together. when a chicken swallows a big beakfull of food you can often see quite clearly that ball of food sliding down the throat and into the crop. where abouts is the 'ball' in relation to these things..? is there any chance you could take a picture and post it on this site?
is she breathing with her mouth open and panting with her tounge moving back and forth?
