Help! My chicken ate rat bait!

Just to clarify,if any pet has ingested rat poison,feeding vegetables high in Vitamin k does not contain enough to counteract poison,you need Vitamin K1. Also poison often takes days before effects show up. If your birds are fine,then they probably did not ingest any or a very small amount.

Best advice is to call a animal poison control centre(they operate 24 hrs)or vet.

Hello:

Sooo, your chickens are doing good ?
I stopped putting out rat/mouse poisen a few years ago.
I thought if a chicken or a cat ate the dead varmits it would also make them sick or die.
Dogs just go on about there business even if they eat several dead rats or mice poisened.
I know this becuase I watched my idiot dog eat them. i was sorta hoping he would kick the budket anyhow.
No such luck.
So I am guiessing now that it is not as problematic as I origially though.:/

We have not put any bait out for like a year even though we THOUGHT it was all gone. They must have dug it up but I know they ate it because I saw one eating it and I quickly put them all away. They are fine today, but I guess I should keep watching. We tossed all the eggs and plan to for a few more days. They are still eating the kale and cabbage shreds.

Vodka doesn't thin the blood. The ethanol (alcohol) in it is a specific against ethylene glycol, or antifreeze, which kills dogs and cats on a regular basis because it tastes sweet and they find it on the driveway or street. That's what that article is about.
