Help - my chicken bites me!

My girls will sometimes bite when I pick them up. This is to gentle them a little and get them used to being handled. They don't hurt and I would just ignore the bite. If it doesn't bother you the hen will quit.

I have handled my hen many times - even made her a cute little jacket when it was below freezing and she was molting :) -- but she is still Miss Nasty -- drew blood on my hand :(

I had a 6 month juvenile Rhode island red rooster with a nasty biting habit. This occurred mostly in the evenings, which involved him coming from behind and biting you on the back of the leg. The same biting habit occurred for many weeks, then his technique improved, and he started biting really hard, as if he was able to sense the improved blood curdling scream reaction he got. Many times he would come out of nowhere, and on a farm filled with brown snakes and death adders you would think for moment that a snake had gotten you, which left you even more in shock. I started correcting the behavior, putting him on his back, holding him to the ground etc , then I started hanging him upside down, nothing worked, and I was starting to realize the behavior was involuntary, like Kleptomania. One day I was sick with the flu, not thinking straight, and after yet another biting occurred, I picked him up by his neck, as I was ready to kill him. After this tho, the biting stopped. I would say Its just a phase they grow out of, without any level of certainty.

I am going to think like a chicken and try the Peck Back methodology. I have one girl that is out of hand and wants to peck my hand everytime I reach into the coop. I believe she thinks I am giving her treats and wants them from my hand. Hopefully this will let her know I am at the top of th pecking order!!!

I have two chickens - one if friendly and will let me pet it, the other is nasty and bites me -- is there a way to correct this bad behavior? The biting one is an Americana or Araconda (sp?) with green eggs. The friendly one is a Wyandotte.
Any advice?
I have a pet hen who has started biting me hard enough to draw blood. I brought her in when temperatures dropped too far and I gave her a toy piano, which she plays. Raccoons got her three friends, so she is an only. She always was an odd hen but not aggressive. She's cute with her little piano but definitely not cute when she bites me.
