Yesterday I noticed my 18 week old black star was just sitting on the floor, I put out some treats to see if she would get up but she just used her wings to move over to them and never stood up, I isolated her and thought she was just hot but it persisted today. She laid her first egg 4 days ago. It is also like 96 degrees here. I don’t know what it could be.
Edit:————- she was not vaccinated for merek’s if that helps. She also is eating and drinking normally no egg binding or swollen abdomen, everything seems normal, but she just can’t standup. She eats a mix of all flock and layer pellet feed. her legs are useless, if I put my finger under her foot she will loosely grip it but overall she can’t use them at all.

Get her drinking by offering a small cup or scoop up to her beak. Electrolytes with vitamins would help, Gatorade or Pedialyte, or sugar water can substitute. Get a chick vitamin or human complex to get some extra riboflavin in her, in case of vitamin deficiency. Just in case she is temporarily paralyzed by pressure from a stuck egg, insert a clean finger into her vent up to 2 inches to feel for a stuck egg or obstruction. Is she pooping? Mareks disease can strike at this age, but hopefully, it is not that. Make sure that she can reach food and water. She should be separated so that she is not picked on. Here is some reading about Mareks:
