HELP!! My chicken is limping around!!

Day 4,

More great news!! I checked on her this morn and left her out with her bud. I watched her and to my surprise she was barely limping. She was almost walking like she did before!

I am going to keep her in her box for the day and over the night. Can i put her with the other chickens? or should i give her a couple of extra days to get her energy up and stuff?

Thank you BuffOrpington for all the advice.

Hi Colton, did the black spots go away and is it completely healed underneath? Is there still no swelling? If both answers are yes, and she is only barely limping, I would think you'd be fine to put her back with the flock. If it's not completely healed and/or it is beginning to swell, she may be developing bumblefoot.

i would say give her a few more days to be completly better maybe take her out side with her friend away from the others for awhile but dont over work it if it was a sprain it will be easier to hurt again if not healed all the way. best of luck

The spots are all gone and there is no swelling. I let her outside today with her bud and if you didn't know she had a sprain you wouldn't notice a thing! I put her back in her box after and she is now sleeping with her bud. I think the barred rockis glad that she has her bud back up to health so they can explore our garden. I am going to let her back into the flock tomorrow evening if she looks good. Praying Sas in all right

Sasquatch isn't limping AT ALL.

I'm putting her in with the flock tonight. So excited to see her running around with her buds!!!!

Great to hear that the spots are completely healed, and the bird is no longer limping! It's also nice to have it documented that these things can heal on their own, and do not always progress to bumblefoot.

Thanks everyone again! Sassy is running around and is now my favorite chicken. She'll run 50 yards straight to me whenever she hears me! It so funny. She is an awesome chicken.
