HELP * TW BLOOD *

Yesterday morning I cut my chickens toe nail because it was growing sideways/ curling a bit and I noticed she was walking/standing weird.

It bled so much I thought she would bleed out. I used the quick stop powder multiple times and it stopped.

Well today when I got home from work it was bleeding again. The roost she was sleeping on last night is full of blood. I used more quick stop and then I used super glue. Still bleeding. I tried more of both. And it’s still bleeding. I don’t have a chicken vet near me, the nearest is an hour away and they can’t see her tonight. Someone please help.

Ice water dip, then let her sit around while it scabs.

A damp washcloth and holding her toe with pressure. It takes quite awhile. One of my hens ripped hers off. Who knows ,how I swear they want to die... that is the only way I could get it to stop, but be prepared it will take an hour and may start up again. Then you repeat the process.

It can hurt temporarily, but it is effective. Since the bleed-stop didn’t work: you can use a soldering iron to stop the bleeding (heat cautery). You will need another person to help hold her.

Did you try curing the super glue with baking soda so it dried super fast? I found that effective and did multiple coats to build it up. I put the super glue on a clean yogurt lid and dipped the nail into that and then dipped into baking soda and then went back and dipped into the baking soda. I found a runnier super glue like Krazy Glue to work better than one that's more of a gel consistency super glue. Here's a picture of how mine looked with multiple coats.

Best of luck! Bleeding toenails are stressful!
