Help my chickens are getting pecked bloody

I have been reading about mice and rats doing this too. Have you seen droppings? Rats and mice are drawn to insulation. Then the birds see the open wound causing them to peck at it.
 
I’ll get back to you with square footage once the coop designer is home. He said it was built to allow for 16 birds.

The coop is raised and open under the full width of the run, and decorated for the holidays.

My 5 sex-links were cooped up for sixteen days, starting on Christmas day storm. My raised coop is 4 x 5 feet. I put compressed straw under the coop, refresh regularly and replace when needed. I toss mixed seeds under the coop three times a day in sub freezing temps when pen is snow covered. Keeps them busy and they never get tired of scratching and pecking for seeds or scratch grains. 20171230_132557.jpg GC
