OMG! What happened to this chicken?
I picked up a few Ross (or Cobb) table chicks and have nothing but trouble with them. I don't think their gonna survive the full 8wks it takes to process. Two of them have had to be put down due to leg problems and now this! Can their an us tear open due to a bowel problem? Or was this a result of bullying from the others in the flock? Is there any chance of recovery or should we just call it another loss?

I believe it might be a laying egg problem...
We had one hen that looked very similar.
We bathed her for 20 minutes twice a day, and used preparation H afterwards to help keep swelling down.
It took about a week... and then she seem to be doing ok.
If it's a hen she might be egg bound, or broke an egg inside of her.
I think this is called prolapsed vent....

I didn't put her back in with the boys.
She's in a hen cage.. and it's never happened again, so far....for a year...

Hope that is helpful...if not look up prolapsed vent...

Hope they get better....!

Welcome to BYC. It could possibly be from vent pecking. Once they see blood, they may all join in, and sometimes they will peck one to death. Some causes of vent pecking are boredom, too little room, too much heat or light, and too low of protein in the diet. If you are using a brooder lamp, try a red one, or if not, lower the lighting to make it more dim to see. Separate the pecked chicken, and watch to see who might be the aggressor, and seaparte that one. Apply some Nustock or plain Neosporin/Triple Antibiotic Ointment to the pecked chick's ear end.
