I thought that I did all my research and I assumed that I wouldn't have any problems with pecking if I did everything right! WELL.....there is nothing like experience! I tried the dye, vinegar, & talcom powder, even taking them outside a little since they are almost 15 weeks. Are they bored? Do I need more perches? Do I just have a bunch of Hannibal Lectors or what? I love em and don't want them hurting each other!!! If you have any suggestions please let me know!!!!

have you tried a product called Pick-no-more loction ,it worked great on my quail it is made by Rooster Booster can be found in feed stores or on ebay, comes in squeeze bottle and you just out it on the area where the outhers pick and they don't like it
hope this helps

first what do you fed them?
what kind of brooding arangements are there?
yes they can go out side if not a windyday
also is the chick house very well ventilated at top of window or door
never straight on them
except when they are out in the run

also here is two things to do
hang a head of cabbage wrapped in piece of chicken wire
from the celing to 8-12 inches above foor
so they can reach it not walk on it

Also hang a piece of alfalfa hay wrapped in chicken wire from ceiling to same height
they will then be satisfied with their house
also are they getting high enough protein
but mostly need to run out side if they are protected from dangerous killers of chickens
predaters are not good for birds
do they have a enclosed pen to go out in?
very necessary thing to have for their enjoyment?
also do you evr give them probotic to build up their gut flora
1 qt dry crumbles
2 qts sweet or sour milk or buttermilk
1/4 cup of yoguart
feed once a day what they can eat in 30 minutes
they will probavly eat 2-3 tbsp of this recipe
if you made too much store it in frig and feed next day

ALWAYS clean out the feeders when they are done
replace dry crumbles you normally feed them

feed once a week after they are stopped picking

also put 2 tbsp of apple cider vinager in gallon of water
water this daily till they quit pecing

THANK YOU!!!!! I am going to try some of these, I will let you know if it works. And just to let you know I have 16 pullets in a 63 square foot coop and two windows not directly on them but it is well ventilated. They have 2 perches and 5 nesting boxes. They also have a 9 X 9 run that has a roof and they don't go out unless we are out we have a coyote problem! If there is anything else you think they need please don't hesitate to tell me! Thank you for all the help!!!!

The other thing I always found good is Whole horse oats and granite grit
the chickens are old enough to lay eggs and maybe they will need laying mash and oyster shell soon
I think most lay at 5-8 months
so you can give them the whole oats and they will spend time eating them and it will get them ready to lay
what percentage of protein do you now give them?
They maybe protein short
Besure and give a feeder of granite grit with any whole grains
they will eat it and oyster shell when they lay also
keep me posted PM me if you will
