Help! My duck is depressed

Hi! I used to have 2 ducks and a pig in a field that my parents own. 3 weeks ago the ducks where chased by something and one of them got eaten...My father took the other one to our house, to live in the garden. The problem is he got depressed and only eats at night, and only grass. Now he doesnt get up and doesnt eat at all, or drinks. He's about 3 years. We tried to force feed on him with a seringe (boilled egg with and apple, all blended with water), because his neck feels really thin and bony. This lasts for 4 days now and my father is considering to put an end in his misery, but we would like to try everything before doing so.

I also gave him aspirin (30 mg). But it didnt seem to make him improve...Calling a vet is out of question, since we cant afford one...
We used to have a turkey that also didnt walk, but he ate land drink...hi think he was really over weight... We have a chiken that is healthy.

the best thing you can do is get another duck. Fowl are social animals, so they need a friend otherwise they get depressed. if that doesn't work, then I don't know if theres anything else to do

I agree.. the best thing to do is get him a friend! They get so depressed and i'm sure someone will be selling ducks for cheap in your area and some people even give them away for free.

either needs another friend or u coud just give him to another home with many other ducks instead of killing him

I dont want to kill him, but I dont want to see him suffer until it just dies. Yesterday I got 3 ducks, 20 chicks and 3 turkeys. He is currently with the turkeys, since the 3 ducklings were still not feathered and were really scared when we tried to separate them from the baby chickens....with the turkeys he lightened up a litle and got territorial, eating a litle bit in front of them. Today he still doesnt get up...

No one wants a sick animal. Here in Portugal ducks are for eating. Its really unusual a duck as a pet and people who have them as pets really dont want a sick one to endanger theirs.

Thank you! In public school we learn english since the age of 10 until we are 18. I still have some doubts with some words and I use the translater for those times XD
