Help! My duckling is a drakeling and I need advice!

Looks like runner stance. Unless they are excited and standing more upright due to that.

I'm not sure about the coloring though. Eye stripes on one and darker head on the other. Hmm, should be interesting.

Do you know where the store gets them from? That way, you could narrow down the possibilities.

They came from ideal... The one with a darker head also sort of has stripes... They are adorable is all I know!

edited to add: they look like the picture of fawn and white runner ducklings that ideal has on their website.

F&W runners should look more like this

I started with runners. Fawn and whites should be yellow with a faint darkening, no eye stripes though. I don't like that Ideal just uses those generic drawings. Eye stripes would typically mean mallard or rouen but they aren't dark enough.
Doesn't mean they aren't runners and just not a great color representation. Who knows. They are cute though. Congrats. Now sit down with your little drakelet and have a discussion about appropriate behavior until "his" girls are old enough. ;)

He's definitely interested in them... I not sure if its healthy interest though... He'll learn though.

Ideal's ducks are not very accurate representatives of the breed. I have a couple Cayuga and they are worlds apart from the ones I got from cackle and even further from breeder stock.

Well then we'll just see how they feather out

Haha! Yea, it was a quick trip. The feed store is only about ten minutes from me so it didn't take long. Han has only seen them and was allowed to look at them while I held them. The babies will stay separate and MAYBE swim supervised with him until they mostly catch up to him. They're sure cute but my hens don't know what to think!
