Also when one tried to spin a bit to chip off another piece of shell when he did it was bleeding some!!!

Usually ducklings will pip then rest for 24(ish) hours before they begin to zip.

A little blood during the zip is not cause for great concern. While they rest after the inital pip their bodies transform from living via the yolk to bceoming independantly breathing little beings. Sometimes they peck in a spot where there is still a vein. It usually stops bleeding pretty quickly and it is not bothersome to them.

Keep us posted!

Oh thank you for the words to calm a duck mommas nerves....
I will keep yall updated. 10 of 13 are pipped, one of the left over 3 is a 35 day hatcher so I bet they will be in a few days or so!

I have 3 fully out doing EXCELLENT.

One pulled himself out and started to bleed pretty good amount from the belly button part. I quickly put soft pressure on it and bleeding stopped. I tried to dry the area of feathers around the wound and have a bandaide on him. He is not like I have seen some chickens have it, where the bowels are out(yuck) It seems to have closed up a bit. He is in the incubator and laying on his back. I figure if he chills like that he will recoup the blood loss and pull through. He seems not so active but DOES seem to be breathing very well and once in a while trying to look around and move. I bet he just needs to kinda recoup after that. Cross fingers for him

One egg has pipped all the way out with his head and his body is still in the egg. Leaving him be, he will come out when fully ready. Hoping he doesnt pull himself out too early like the one with the bandaid.

5 more pipping and wiggling!

I have NEVER done ducks before and OMG they are such cute little personalities. I am instantly in love with thier sideways cocked heads and inquisitive little eyes. I am a proud Duck Mom

I think the little one that bled will be ok after a good rest!

I am so glad you're hatch is going well! I hatched my first ducklings on June 1st and they are awesome! Its hard to imagine that they were so tiny just 3 weeks ago!

Good luck on the remaining eggies!
