ilovemysilkies, When you get your eggs home place them pointy side down in a egg carton and tilt one end of the egg carton by placing it on a book or something and switch every few hours. This allows the air pocket to settle. I let mine rest for about 12 hours before setting.
As far as the humidity is concerned I'd go with the instructions for my bator to start and calibrate my gauges one at a time. If you do a search on this forum you can find instructions on doing this its not hard and will tell you where you really are.Humidity is important but you can be off a little in the beginning and still be just fine,
What I try for in my area is 25-35% for the first 18 days and 60% for lockdown. This works well for me where I'm at but may not be ideal for you location, so I would find a chart that shows air cell growth and adjust as needed to match the chart. These can also be found by doing a search on this forum.
The main thing is take notes. This will teach you what does and doesn't work for your location and relax. Temp is important but humidity has a little wiggle room. If your air cells are a little small just lower your humidity a little and if their too big raise it.Don't panic if the air cells aren't exactly like the chart fairly close is ok.
