I put my eggs in the incubator on the 18th March at 6pm. It's now the 9th April- according to my maths they should've hatched yesterday. I know they can sometimes take a bit longer to hatch but they haven't even made a chirp and don't move at all.

Theres no set day on when they "should" or "shouldnt" hatch. It's a more of a range, like 19-23 days. I wouldn't worry yet, since you set them so late in the day on day 0, I would consider being day 21 more accurate than yesterday. Patience!

Not all eggs move and cheep before hatching either. Some are quiet and still before they get down to business.

No I assumed it would be accurate as it’s brand new
Not likely...many are actually labeled to say they need to be checked against a known accurate thermometer.
What incubator are you using?

It's a Janoel 12. I've just checked the temperature and it was infact 34. Does this mean the chicks are dead?

Hard to say...temp drops are not as deadly as high temp spikes and can delay hatching.
They still could hatch unless the temps on the incubator are way off and have been for the entire 21 days. Have yo been candling the eggs to track their progress?

Why I test my thermometers to compare the the built in thermometer on the incubator.
I used a friends incubator that they had not had luck with, the built in thermometer was off by about 8°F.
I use this technique to test/calibrate:
