I have 2 indoor cats, and both are good with chicks, and chickens.

mine too!!!! LOL!!!Has your dog ever attacked a chicken before? How long did the dog have alone with them?
7 week old chicks are not tiny. And 5 of them, I have to think if the dog got ahold of them, you would find a bunch of feather, at least.
Have you given them any treats yet? Mine know the sound of the treats in the container. (heck, mine hear me take the lid off the trash can i store it in, and they come running!)
Also check on top of anything they could have gotten onto
Still hoping they turn up too!No they are sadly still missing. At this point I'm worried they're dead. Maybe I'll get lucky though.
B/c at some point someone talked about the concern that a cat may have gotten the chickens and other people chimed in to share their stories of cats accepting their chickens instead of eating them, trying to reassure the OP that it's possible her chickens were still alive, but hiding. Not really that complicated to figure out, but thanks for calling us all idiots.
Oh, that's a great point. I figured if the dog did them in there would have been some kind of evidence. If that's the case they any birds she brings home may be in danger. How is the dog doing with the new birds? I was always told that once a dog kills a chicken then they develop a taste for them and the birds will never be safe. Although it's very possible that's an old wive's tale and is a myth.Sorry about your chicks.
I had a flock of 9 about the same age disappear into a dogs belly once.
Just saying...
And said dog didn't leave a feather of evidence.
It is possible a dog ate them.
My dogs NOW leave my birds alone.Oh, that's a great point. I figured if the dog did them in there would have been some kind of evidence. it's easy to do and every loss is painful.I'm just sitting and reading about your lost flock. Makes me tear up for you. If anyone would have told me how much I would care about my chickens I would not have believed them. Man we do fall in love..at least I do.every single one
