HELP - My Free range chicken trying to jump fence into front yard...

Well I got the rain! Been raining for a few hours... and we made a similar cable... but look what happend

Well, at least my Rain dance came thru. LOL..
I think all you need to do is modify where the wire is in relationship to the top of fence.. Place it so that as the chicken is trying to land on top of fence... she encounters the wire first.. Other option is to place multiple wires up there.

.. Netting would also work, but gets more complicated installing it.. It is possible though. A stretch of 12 inches in height would do the trick.


Last option is of course the barber shop on the wings.
 
Well I haven't fixed the wire yet but look what I got! My first egg! The rain must have made them happy! They played in it all day yesterday! I'm so happy!!

When mine were younger I clipped flight feathers. Now that they're outside I don't, but I don't free range. If I were, I would clip them. I literally was shaking the first time I did it. I went online and researched and researched and it was still nerve wracking, but once I got into the groove I was good. My leghorn likes to hop up and perch on the trampoline rail (about the halfway point for the enclosure) then she hops back down.
